House of Y2K

Is there anyone more iconic to the Y2K era other than Paris Hilton herself? In February 2023, Klarna created an exclusive one-day immersive pop-up experience on Melrose Ave, taking guests through the journey of how online shopping trends have evolved over the last 20 years. On display outside were Paris’ bright pink Bentley. Her 21st chainmail dress graced a glittery window design with numerous rotating disco balls. As guests entered, they were immediately transported back in time to the dial-up sounds and clunky tech experiences synonymous with the early 2000s. After the “Tech Tunnel of Terror,” a “smoooth” (and very pink) environment invited guests to peruse so many of Paris’ iconic outfits and accessories. Multiple floors were filled with interactive experiences from bedazzled art stations to celebrity makeup artists treating guests to some throwback glamour looks.

From concepting, modeling, designing and rendering every scenic build, I worked closely with both the internal team and external vendors and fabricators to bring this to life. I was hired as the lead designer; managing 2D support, creating all 3D assets and creative, in addition to directing install.

. We received positive coverage from Harpers Bazaar, TMZ, Page Six, Secret Los Angeles, and many others. This activation was also the winner of the Consumer Services category at The Drum Awards for Experience.
