Ready Player One at SXSW

Warner Bros was about to premiere one of the most talked about movies in 2018; Ready Player One. SXSW was the perfect backdrop to create a two-story, 3-day immersive fan experience just weeks before the premiere. Activated at Brazos Hall, fans began their experience in Wade's Van. As they opened a curtain, a 20ft long light tunnel invited them into "The Oasis." Inside Brazos, fans were greeted with iconic characters and scenes throughout the movie. Multiple areas also served as organic photo op moments, from a 12ft Iron Giant, an authentic Delorean, to a "zero gravity" infinity room at the Distracted Globe dance club. Upstairs, fans walked through "The Stacks," entering rooms sponsored by Vive VR where they could transport themselves into 8 different games inside the Oasis.

I was the lead designer on this project, where I created and designed all of the scenic builds, build mechanicals, and collaborated closely with graphic designers to create one of the most talked about activations at SXSW. We received positive coverage from Deadline, SyFy, Business Insider, Forbes, and Buzzfeed.
